Regardless

My skin is summer leather,

Tanned and supple save for

A few crinkly edges where

Sun and age remind that

Summer will bring winter

Soon enough—no, too soon.

Regardless, the flowers are

Blooming their first full blooms,

Flowing with the breeze

That brings the evening,

Open to the hour,

Unafraid of the dark.
