I’ve been reading again . . .
Eating the Sun: Small Musings on a Vast Universe by Ella Frances Sanders
Bite-sized science essays with a soul. Yes, a copy editor should have proofed this book (dear god, where have all the copy editors gone???), but Sanders covers a huge range of topics in brief packages. Perfect for someone who is interested in science but does not necessarily want to cozy up with a textbook.
“The Age in Your Head” by Jennifer Senior (The Atlantic, April 2023)
I love this article. I feel like I’m 12 years old some days and cannot for the life of me figure out why a bank entrusted me with a mortgage. Turns out I’m not alone. Note that this was published under a different title in the online version of The Atlantic.
“We’re All Invited to the Lighthouse” by Patricia Lockwood (The Atlantic, April 2023)
Lockwood’s meditation on visiting the Isle of Sky with her mother and in the shadow of Woolf’s wonder of a novel. Note that this was published under a different title in the online version of The Atlantic.
